The Technical University of Nagoya (Japanese名古屋 工业 大学Nagoya Kōgyō daigaku, English Nagoya Institute of Technology, in short Meikōdai (名 工 大) or Nitech ) is a national university in Japan. It is located in Gokisochō, Showa -ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture.

History

Founded in 1905 as the University of Nagoya Higher Technical School (名古屋 高等 工业 学校, Nagoya Kōtō Kōgyō Gakko ), the fourth oldest of the state technical colleges Japan to Tokyo ( 1901), Osaka ( 1901) and Kyoto (1902 ). It was opened with four departments: Civil Engineering, Architecture, weaving, and dyeing (from 1941 chemical engineering ). Later she added departments added: Machine Design (1906 ), Electrical Engineering ( 1929), Aerospace Engineering (1939) and Evening Courses (1942 ).

In 1944 she was in pilot Nagoya (名古屋 工业 専 门 学校, Nagoya Kōgyō Semmon Gakko ) renamed. The pilot and the pilot Aichi prefectural (爱 知 県 立 工业 専 门 学校, Aichi kenritsu Kōgyō Semmon Gakko, founded in 1943 ) in 1949 merged with the Technical University of Nagoya.
