Nakayama Hakudō

Hakudo Nakayama (Japanese中山 博 道; born February 11, 1873 in Kanazawa in Ishikawa Prefecture, † December 14, 1958 ) was a Japanese master of various martial arts.

Nakayama is the founder of Musō Shinden - ryū, a Iaidō direction. At the age of 19 he went to Tokyo, where he practiced in the Shindo Munen - ryū in the dojo of Negishi Shingoro. He was the founder of Aikido, Morihei Ueshiba, friends and also arranged the marriage of his daughter Matsuko with Kiyoshi Nakakura.

In 1930, he was a respected member of the Commission, which created the curriculum of the sword fight in the Toyama Military Academy. After the Second World War, he founded the All Japan Kendōverband (Zen Nihon Kendo Renmei ). He also had the title of Meijin.
