German cuisine is now used only by about 15,000 mostly elderly Namibians and former employees of the former colonial masters, of which the name " German cuisine " derives. The speakers also speak mostly either Afrikaans or High German (see German language in Namibia).

Examples:

  • Long time no see - Long time no see
  • What cost banana? - How much is the banana?
  • Late clock - to later time
  • Men go hunting, not the house - The Lord goes hunting, and is not at home

German cuisine is often an incentive for young Namibians to learn the German language as a foreign language in order to understand their grandparents.

At the beginning of the 20th century, there were attempts to develop an artificially simplified German for use in the colonies. This was propagated in 1916 by Emil SchwörerHaus under the name of German colonial. In contrast, stand the concept of the imaginary as an international means of communication world German by Adalbert Baumann.
