Namık Tan

Namik Tan ( born 1956 in Mardin ) is a Turkish diplomat.

Life

Namik Tan studied law at the University of Ankara, is married and has two children. He joined the Foreign Service in 1982 and was employed in the Department of Maritime Affairs. From 1984 to 1987 he was Secretary of second class in Moscow. From 1988 to 1990 he was Secretary of First Class in Abu Dhabi. In 1991 he was deputy bureau chief of Turgut Özal. From 1991 to 1995 and from 1997 to 2001, he was Counsellor in Washington, DC In 1996 he was office manager of Emre Gönensay. In 2001, he headed the department of America. From 2002 to 2003 he headed the news. From 2004 to 2007 he was Speaker of the Disisleri Bakanligi ( Foreign Ministry ). From 2007 to 2009 he was ambassador in Tel Aviv- Jaffa. Until February 2010, he was Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and headed the departments Bilateral and public relations. In February 2010 he was appointed ambassador to Washington, DC appointed.
