Namkhai Norbu

Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche ( Tib: chos rgyal nam bu rin po che mkha'i normal; born December 8, 1938 in dGe'ug, Circle Dege, Kham ) is a Tibetan author, historian and Dzogchen masters.

At the age of two years Pelyül Karma Yangsid and Shechen Rabjam him recognized as the reincarnation ( Trülku ) of the great Dzogchen master and co-founder of the Rime movement Adzom Drugpa ( 1842-1924 ). As Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche was three years old, the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa recognized him as, in addition to the spiritual rebirth of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel ( 1594-1651 ). Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyel, the founder and Dharma (Tib.: Chogyal; skt Dharmaraja. ) Of the State of Bhutan, for its part, as the incarnation of the Drukpa Kagyu master Pema Karpo ( 1527-1592 ) is considered.

Life

In his early years, Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche studied at Sakya Monastery Dege Gönchen. Between the ages of eight and twelve years of age he attended the attached convent school, where he studied Buddhist philosophy with Khyenrab Chokyi Öser many years. During this time he also received many teachings and transmissions from different educational cycles of the Buddhist Tantra and Dzogchen. If these were of many masters, including his paternal uncle Togden Ugyen Tenzin ( the later the rainbow body realized ), his maternal uncle Khyentse Rinpoche Chokyi Wangchuk and Drubwang Rinpoche Kunga Pelden, Negyab Rinpoche, Drugse Gyurme Dorje, Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche and Bo Göngkar Rinpoche.

In 1951, he received special teachings and transmissions of Ayu Khandro Dorje Peldrön, a champion, who lived more than fifty years in darkness and practiced and a student of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo. Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche was invited in 1953 by the Chinese government as the representative of the Tibetan youth to China. After visiting Chengdu and Chongqing, he accepted the invitation to teach in Tibetan Menyag. During this time he met Kangkar Rinpoche, from whom he received teachings on the Six Yogas of Naropa, Mahamudra and Tibetan medicine among others. Back in Tibet Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche met his root teacher 1955 Nyala Rinpoche Rigzin Dorje Changchub and stayed for almost a year at their resident in Khamdogar. Changchub Dorje gave him the authentic knowledge of Dzogchen Namkhai Norbu whereupon understood his real essence. This immediate understanding of Rigpa beyond all limitations remained to teach a characteristic feature of its type to date.

In the late Chogyal Namkhai Norbu 1950s undertook a pilgrimage to Nepal, India and Tibet. Due to the difficult political circumstances he finally broke from his pilgrimage and left Derge. He fled to Gangtok in Sikkim (India), where he lived from 1958 to 1960. There he worked as an author and editor of Tibetan books for the local government.

Because of his depth of knowledge in all aspects of Tibetan culture, he has been invited as 22 -year-old Professor Giuseppe Tucci, to work in Rome at the Istituto Italiano per il Medio ed Estremo Oriente ( IsMEO ). After four years at the Institute Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche in 1964 was offered a professorship at the Istituto Universitario Orientale in Naples, where he taught until 1992. While residing in Italy Namkhai Norbu Chogyal began his research focus mainly on the ancient history of Tibet, with particular attention to the Bon tradition. His resulting work here, including the work on history, medicine, astrology, Bön and folk traditions, are testimony of his deep understanding of Tibetan culture and its origins.

Chogyal Namkhai Norbu 1971 Yantra Yoga began to teach, an ancient form of Tibetan Buddhist yogas, which movement, breathing and visualization combined. A few years later he began to give Dzogchen teachings to a small group of Italian students. With these he founded the Dzogchen Community. At that time, Dzogchen in the West relatively unknown. As interest grew in his teachings, Rinpoche devoted increasingly spreading the teachings of Dzogchen and the reasons of so-called ' Gars ', globally distributed offices of the Dzogchen Community. Today there are such Gars in Italy, Romania, the United States, Venezuela, Argentina and Australia. In addition to this spiritual activity, he founded the International Shang Shung Institute and ASIA. Shang Shung Institute of goal is the preservation of the cultural richness of Tibet. ASIA is a non-profit organization (NGO ), whose goal is to enable medical and educational facilities especially for the people of Tibet or maintain them.
