Ñandutí

Ñandutí ( Guaraní Ñanduti, Nandu, Spider ' and ti, the ending of the word for the color white ) is a non- tatted lace, which is made of fine threads and the technique is similar to a spider web. Thus, a star-shaped base fabric is stretched in a frame, and concentric, cobweb similarly connected from inside to outside the threads. In addition to single-color tips, there are also contrasted rich and colorful. This tip is both used alone, for example, as table runners or for the decoration of clothes. The Legend of Ñandutí

The enamored chief Nandu guazú ( Large Nandu ) is courting the favor of his beloved Sapurú. Sapurús father preferred another chief Jasy Ñemoñaré, the son of the moon has to offer which moon silver. Nandu guazú in his grief, thinking of suicide. He wanders through the jungle and finds hidden in a tree trunk, the most beautiful fabrics he has ever seen: white, bright, a miracle of nature. Since Jasy Ñemoñaré appears and after a brief struggle, triumphs Nandu guazú. The moon mourned his son's fate. Nandu guazú, who now feels safe wants to take the miraculous substance, but he breaks under his hands. Deep Sadly, he realizes that he can never compete for the hand of his beloved.

At night, Nandu Guazús mother thinks her son's fate. She thinks and feels like the hard-working little spider and weaves, from their own, white hair, exactly the same wondrous tissue. So she helps her son to his happiness.

And as you can the little hardworking spider since that day also bear the name of the ( bird) Strauss: Nandu.
