Nanjing Foreign Language School

The Foreign Language School, Nanjing (Chinese南京 外国语 学校, pinyin Nanjing Wàiguóyǔ Xuexiao, english Nanjing Foreign Language School, abbreviation南 外, Nan Wai, official abbreviation: NFL ) is one of seven in 1963, directly after the instruction of the then Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai established foreign language high schools in China. It is located in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, People's Republic of China.

The Foreign Language School Nanjing consists of lower and upper. Students who have completed primary school (1st class to 6th class) in Nanjing can be picked up by a particularly regulated by the Foreign Language School Nanjing testing directly from the lower level of this school. Graduates from other primary schools must complete another test. The exam is due to the change in the education policy of Nanjing from year to year is different, but in principle be tested at the Prüfungskadidaten knowledge in the subjects of English, mathematics and Chinese in the form of written exams and interviews.

In the lower grades Time ( 7th grade to 9th grade ) students learn the same curriculum as in the ordinary Chinese junior middle school ( Chinese, mathematics, political science, biology, geography, physics, chemistry and history). Particularly, is that students can choose as their first foreign language courses in English, German, French and Japanese from the beginning of 7th grade, where at the latter three the number of places is limited to 16 or 18 depending. Most other Chinese middle schools offer contrast to only English. The school puts on foreign language teaching special value, so there are versatile linguistic practice facilities, a foreign language festival and contacts with students from other countries; thus the language level of the graduates of this school is relatively high.

After three years of lower school students have to pass a competitive examination (Uniform entrance exam of senior middle school in Nanjing City as well as a special language ability test consisting of a written test and an interview ) to be included in the high school this school, the grades 10 - 12 covers.

Internationality is a particular focus of the school; thus the knowledge is conveyed via other countries, with the result that many high school graduates to study outside of China later.

In 2009, at the Nanjing Foreign Language School, Xianlin Campus ( NFL, XC ), founded Steingädele International School. It is the German - Chinese offshoot of Urspringschule, a Protestant boarding school in Germany. Since then, around 25 students are specially prepared for the Abitur in Germany there permanently. The students then switch usually at the beginning of the 10th grade by Germany to the Urspringschule, there to achieve their high school diploma. The ultimate goal is to build together with the Urspringschule a mixed German - Chinese high schools.
