Gold Tie- pencilfish ( Nannostomus harrisoni )

The gold -banded pencilfish ( Nannostomus harrisoni ) belongs to the family of Schlanksalmler ( Lebiasinidae ) and comes in the basin of the Demerara River in Guyana before. He is the only species of the subgenus in the genus Poecilibrycon Nannostomus.

Features

The gold -banded pencilfish has an elongated, torpedo -shaped body and is 4.5 to 6 inches long, according to several sources. His body is 5.4 times as long as high. The top is brownish, below that is a golden longitudinal binding, including a black longitudinal fascia. Both extend from the tip of the snout to the caudal fin base. There you will find the top and bottom of each binding a red spot. The belly is silvery white. An adipose fin is present. The male has a strong colored anal fin.

Gold Tie- pencilfish lay 30 to 50 eggs on the underside of plant leaves water (eg Hygrophila ). The fry hatch after 24 hours and free swimming after five days.
