NANTEN2 Observatory

The NANTEN Telescope is a radio telescope for wavelengths in the millimeter and submillimeter range. Since 2004, it has its site in 4800 m altitude on the Pampa La Bola in Chile.

The NANTEN Telescope with 4 m diameter reflector stood since 1995 at the Las Campanas Observatory in Chile. In 2004 it was provided with a main reflector closer to the sub-millimeter range, a new sub-reflector and a new drive and moved to the greater height of the Pampa La Bola near the site of the Atacama Large Millimeter Array. Since then, it is also referred to as NANTEN2 telescope. The observation area includes frequencies 115-880 GHz, ie wavelengths 2800-340 microns.

At NANTEN2 institutes from Japan, South Korea, Germany and Chile are involved.
