Nara-Park

The Nara Park (Japanese奈良 公园, Nara kōen ) is located in Nara, Nara Prefecture. It measures 4 km from east to west and from north to south 2 km away. On its territory are the temple Todai -ji and Kōfuku -ji and Kasuga Taisha shrine. Popular the park is because of its many sika deer and spring during the cherry blossom.

Important Festivals

  • Cutting the antlers on Sundays and public holidays in October.

There are over 1,200 wild deer in Nara Park. The deer in Nara Park grow new antlers every spring. These are dangerous to the mating season in the fall hard and for visitors. For this reason, they are captured by the so-called Seko with nets and ropes. The antler is cut by a Shinto priest.
