Narcisa de Jesús

Narcisa de Jesus Martillo Moran ( born October 29, 1832 in Nobol, Ecuador, † December 8, 1869 in Lima, Peru ) was an Ecuadorian laywoman. She is a saint in the Catholic Church.

Life

Narcisa moved to the early death of her parents in 1852 to Guayaquil and worked for financial support of their siblings as a seamstress. At the same time she looked after devotedly to the needy, the sick and children. From 1868 she lived, but without having there made ​​a vow in a Dominican convent in Lima. Narcisa spent eight hours a day in prayer and solitude, as well as another four hours with mortification. She fasted very strictly and was often seen in a state of ecstasy. Narcisa was instituted by Pope John Paul II beatified in 1992 and by Pope Benedict XVI. Canonized in 2008. Your Memorial Day in the liturgy is the 8th of December.
