Narew National Park

The Narew National Park (Polish: Park Narwiański Narodowy ) is located in the north-eastern part of Poland, near Bialystok in the Podlaskie Voivodeship.

Generally

An important part of the national park is the Upper Narew Valley between Suraż and Rzędziany, which is part of the landscape park founded in 1985 Narew ( Narwiański Landscape Park ). This extraordinary water maze with a network of branching and connecting to river beds is one of the last regularly flooded river valleys in Europe. Moore, wetlands and waters are the dominant ecosystems and comprise approximately 90 % of the park area. The valley is fed by surface water and groundwater from the near-surface level and a number of smaller rivers such as Liza, Szeroka Struga, Awissa, Kurówka, Kowalówka, Turośnianka and Czaplinianka. The National Park is a unique example of a anastomisierenden river. Because of its uniqueness, this area is often referred to as Polish Amazonia.

Flora

In the bogs and marshes nearly 200 species of vascular plants occur, of which 13 are under the protection of species. Visually dominate but clearly reeds. There are also in the National Park as well as numerous meadows and forest communities, some of which are rare in Poland.

The national park is considered an important Brutzufluchtsort for water and marsh birds of international and European importance. It is a breeding area of more than 1 % of the European population of at least 10 species of birds including the bittern, the Garganey, Marsh Harrier, Montagu's harrier, the Little Crake, spotted crake and the snipe, and Schlüpfstätte three bird species are threatened with global extinction - the eagle, the corncrake and the Aquatic Warbler.
