Narnia (Band)

Narnia was a Christian power metal band from Sweden. The name of the band goes back to the work of The Chronicles of Narnia by CS Lewis.

Band History

Christian Liljegren and Carl Johan Grimmark met in 1993 for the first time in her hometown of Jönköping in southern Sweden. Christian worked with his band " Modest Attraction" straight to their first album "The Truth In Your Face", while Carl was guitarist of the band " Sentinel". They exchanged their phone numbers and kept in touch.

Shortly after Carl 1996 " Sentinel" had left, Christian asked him if he was interested in participating in a solo project; Christian ie had a passion for melodic hard rock, a style of music that came in his band with little enthusiasm. Carl told. A few months later, Christian Carl won as a substitute for on the Germany tour of " Modest Attraction" failing guitarist Stephan Mohlin. As Mohlin left the band permanently, Carl became a permanent member. So Christian and Carl found time to plan their project. They experimented with pieces of other bands and tried to play as much as possible and to vary. In September 1996, they recorded the results in the Topz Recording Studio; Carl played the instruments and sang Christian. The shooting lasted for several months. It involved several guest musicians, including Jakob Persson, who should be the bass player for Narnia later.

In January 1997, the recordings were finally completed. After hard work Narnia's first album " Awakening" was mixed. Her then Agent Magnus Söderkvist finally took care of a contract with the Japanese label Pony Canyon. In May, Christian and Carl went on their last tour with " Modest Attraction." They learned Matthias Mittelstädt, who runs the specialized Christian bands record company MCM together with his brother Rainer. Mittelstädt offered himself as her manager after he had listened to her album. Christian and Carl were agreed and signed the contract. Other bands at MCM are for example Saviour Machine and Rob Rock. After this success, Christian and Carl wanted to be to live performances in the area. That's why they completed the band bassist, keyboardist and drummer.

Carl Johan Grimmark is outside the band at Saviour Machine both as a studio and as a live guitarist active, which was prompted by the resignation of Jeff Clayton from this project. Since 2004 he plays as a permanent member of the band of Rob Rock.

Christian Liljegren was meantime with the great-grandson - daughter of Charlie Rivel - the world-famous clown - married and adopted her last name. Since 2004, he sings in addition to the Christian power metal band Divine Fire. Since his divorce in 2007, he called again Christian Liljegren.

In May 2008, the band announced that Christian Liljegren ceases to be a singer. He wants to take a break and perform other projects. As a new singer Germán Pascual got inside. He comes from Brazil and has lived in Sweden since his youth. Previously, he was, inter alia, in " Minds Eye " and " Mendez " active. With Germán, the band recorded the album Course of a Generation, released by Massacre Records.

In April 2010 the band announced their speedy resolution. Their last concert the band gave on December 3, 2010 at the Christmas Rock Night in Ennepetal.

In January 2014, the band announced their reunion.
