Naro Space Center

The Naro Space Center is a state- space center in South Korea, about 485 kilometers south of Seoul. It is named after its county also Goheung. The center was inaugurated on June 11, 2009. The first launch, also the first start of the Korean rocket KSLV, which is also called Naro, took place on August 25, 2009.

With the Naro Space Center and the KSLV, Korea wants to become independent of foreign launch vehicles and launch sites.

The property is about five square kilometer site located assembly halls, test and launch facilities for the rocket KSLV, plus a control center, optical tracking devices, radar stations, a power plant and other plants.

The building was officially started with a ceremony on 8 August 2003. Main contractor for the construction was Hyundai Heavy Industries.

It's run by the National Space Centre Space Agency Korea Aerospace Research Institute ( KARI ), head is Muin Kyung -ju.
