Näsby Castle

Castle Nasby (Swedish Nasby slott ) is located in the Swedish municipality of Täby, about 15 km north of Stockholm, on a far -reaching inland bay ( Stora Värtan ) of the Baltic Sea.

The property was since the 14th century, the Archbishop of Uppsala own and went in the 1520s to Christina Gyllenstierna. Through donations and marriage came Good Nasby on the noble family Banér to the Imperial Council and diplomats Per Larsson Sparre. This made ​​the Elder in 1665 (possibly earlier, based on sketches by Jean de la Vallée ) built the present castle-like main building, designed by architect Nicodemus Tessin. In the following years Nasby changed hands several times within different Swedish noble families and was also temporarily state ownership as a result of expropriation. 1902 acquired by industrialist and art collector Carl Robert Lamm of the castle. He let the meantime severely damaged by a fire building get ready on the basis of the old plans by the architect Erik Josephson again. Lamb kept in the castle his extensive collection of mostly Italian and Swedish sculptures and paintings. The artworks are now sold for the most part, but there are a few works by eg Bruno Liljefors, Anders Zorn and Carl Milles in the castle.

From 1941 to 1987, the School of the Swedish Navy their headquarters in the building. During this time an office was growing. Since 1989, the castle serves as a hotel, will be held in the main conferences and wedding receptions.

The castle, the stables of the 17th century and boathouse are monuments since 1943.
