Nasser Givehchi

Nasser Givehchi (Persian ناصر گيوه چی, born November 12, 1935 in Tehran ) is a retired Iranian freestyle wrestler and coach. He was a participant at the Summer Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 and 1956 in Melbourne.

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki, he was 16 years and 252 days, the youngest athlete in this discipline. He competed in the weight class " featherweight (62 kg) " and only lost against Bayram Sit on points. Givehchi was second in these games and therefore won the silver medal. The Summer Olympics of 1956 in Melbourne were less successful. Givehchi was only sixth at the tournament.

Also in the Wrestling World Championships 1954 in Tokyo, he could not repeat his success of Helsinki and was at the end of the World Cup fifth place.

Nasser Givehchi became a coach after his sports career. Between 1966-1967 worked as an assistant coach of the Iranian national team wrestler.

Givehchi is the youngest ever Iranian medal winner at the Olympic Summer Games.
