Nasser Minachi

Naser Minatschi (Persian ناصر میناچی, born 1931 in Tehran, † January 25, 2014 ) was an Iranian politician.

Career and activities

Naser Minatschi was one of the bazaar leader during the reign of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and was co-founder of Hosseinieh Ershad, a non-traditional Islamic organization in Tehran. Minatschi was until his death in managing the facility and at this time a leader of the Islamist opposition.

He was appointed on 4 February 1979, tourism minister in the interim government of Mehdi Bazargan. By November 1979, he was also a member of the Revolutionary Council. After that he was appointed in the transition cabinet as Minister of Information and Public Relations. The occupiers of the U.S. Embassy in Tehran called for the arrest of the Minister of Information Minatschi. They accused him of being a CIA agent. Minatschi was arrested in early February 1980 by the militias. He was released through the intervention of Bazargan.

Under the presidency of Abolhassan Banisadr Minatschi Nasser was appointed Minister of Culture and national guidance ( Ershad ). He died on January 25, 2014 due to heart failure and was buried in the Hosseinieh - Ershad Mosque.
