Natalia Bessmertnova

Natalya Igorevna Bessmertnowa (Russian Наталья Игоревна Бессмертнова, scientific transliteration Natal'ja Igorevna Bessmertnova; born July 19, 1941 in Moscow, † February 19, 2008 ibid ) was a Soviet prima ballerina at the Bolshoi Theatre.

Biography

From 1953 to 1961 she was trained in ballet school of the Bolshoi Theatre. Their trainers were Marija Koschuchowa, Sofija Golowkina and Marina Semenova. During their training, they danced first time in 1958 on the stage of the Bolshoi Theatre. 1961 ended Bessmertnowa training as the first student in the history of the theater with a grade of A on the final exam. From 1961 to 1988 she was the prima ballerina of the Bolshoi ballet. After that she worked as an instructor in the theater until 1995.

Bessmertnowa was with the former director of the theater, Yuri Grigorovich married. Like her husband, she left the Bolshoi in 1995 in the dispute over the future style after the end of the Soviet era.
