Nathan Cohen (rower)

Nathan Cohen MNZM ( born January 2, 1986 in Christchurch ) is a New Zealand rower who won the world title in the double sculls in 2010 and 2011.

Cohen finished at the Junior World Championships in 2003 to second place in the one behind the Russians Alexander Kornilov; In 2004 he repeated his second place, this time behind the Romanians Daniel Frateanu. In 2006, he won his third silver medal in the one when he defeated the German Karsten Brodowski in the U23 World Championships.

Cohen started in 2007 for the first time in the World Cup. First, he made a double scull with Joseph Sullivan, then with Matthew Trott, with whom he came in sixth in Munich at the World Rowing Championships in 2007. 2008 Rob Waddell moved him into the boat, the two won at the World Cup regatta in Lucerne and Poznan. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the two missed almost a medal in fourth place. 2009 returned Matthew Trott back into the boat, the duo reached the fourth place at the World Rowing Championships in 2009. 2010 then re-formed Joseph Sullivan and Nathan Cohen of the New Zealand double sculls, according to a seventh place at the World Cup in Munich, and a third place in Lucerne won the both the title at the world Rowing Championships on Lake Karapiro in 2010 on the North Island of New Zealand. That Sullivan and Cohen were successful not only in front of his home crowd, they showed in 2011 with a World Cup victory in Hamburg and Lucerne, as well as the successful title defense at the World Rowing Championships 2011 in Bled. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London Cohen and Sullivan erruderten the gold medal in front of the Italian two.
