Nathaniel Dance-Holland

Nathaniel Dance -Holland RA ( born May 8, 1735 in the UK, † October 15, 1811 in Little Wittenham in Didcot ) was a British portrait painter and politician.

Nathaniel was the third son of the architect George Dances of the elderly in the world. He studied with Francis Hayman and deepened his studies in Italy, partly with his brother George Dance the Younger. In Rome he met Angelica Kauffmann know. 1761, he was elected a member of the Incorporated Society of Artists. Back in London in 1768, he was a founding member of the Royal Academy of Arts. He has received many requests to paint the portraits of King George III. , The navigator James Cook and the actor David Garrick.

1790 married Dance Harriet, daughter of Cecil Bishopp and widow of the late Thomas Dummer 1781, both Members of Parliament. He gave to the painter career and devoted himself to the policy. Out of respect for a certain Charlotte Holland of Wigmore Street, Cavendish Square, he added his last name to " Dance - Holland". From 1790 until his death in 1811 he was a Member of the Parliament of Great Britain, or 1801 of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. From 1790 to 1802 he represented East Grinstead, 1802-1806 Great Bedwyn, and from 1807 onwards, in turn, East Grinstead. Dance -Holland died in 1811 in Little Wittenham northeast of Didcot; his wife lived until 1825.
