Nathaniel N. Craley, Jr.

Nathaniel Neiman Craley Jr. ( born November 17, 1927 in Red Lion, York County, Pennsylvania, † June 18, 2006 in Glen Rock, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1965 and 1967 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Nathaniel Craley attended the common schools and the York Collegiate Institute. In 1946 he graduated from the Taft School in Watertown (Connecticut). He finished his education in 1950 at Gettysburg College. Between 1950 and 1965 he worked as a cabinet maker. In the years 1958 and 1959 he was also a teacher of economics and history at York Junior College. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. He was 1959-1965 Treasurer of the Planning Commission in York County. He also practiced there from other offices. In the years 1962 to 1964 he was district chairman of the Democrats in York County.

In the congressional elections of 1964 Craley was in the 19th electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Republican George Atlee Goodling on January 3, 1965. Then he again took in 1966 against Goodling and this subject, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until January 3, 1967. This was determined by the events of the Vietnam War and the civil rights movement.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives Nathaniel Craley worked 1967-1985 in various capacities in the management of Pacific territories of the United States. Then he withdrew into retirement. He died on June 18, 2006 in Glen Rock.
