The National Academy of Art ( Bulgarian Национална художествена академия ) is the oldest and most important art school in Bulgaria. It has its headquarters in the capital Sofia, Shipka Str 1

History

The first art school in the young Bulgarian state was opened in 1886 by resolution of the National Assembly. 1907 was a specially designed for this purpose are dedicated building in the city center. The building is still used today as an administrative wing and also for teaching. There is also the gallery of the National Academy of Arts. After several name changes ( 1951-1995 Higher Institute of Fine Arts " Nikolai Pavlovich " ), it has its current name.
