National Assembly (Pakistan)

The National Assembly of Pakistan ( Urdu: نیشنل اسمبلی, English National Assembly of Pakistan) is the lower house in the bicameral system of Pakistan.

The National Assembly comprises 342 deputies, of which 272 are elected for five years by majority vote directly by the people. Entitled to vote, all citizens are over the age of 18 years. 60 seats in parliament are women, ten other representatives of religious minorities reserved. The reserved seats are distributed among the parties represented in the National Assembly in accordance with their share of the vote.

The last elections were held on 18 March 2008. President of the Parliament since 2008 the politicians Fahmida Mirza, who is a member of the Pakistan People's Party.
