National Association of Professional Base Ball Players

The National Association (NA ) was the first professional baseball league in the world. Her full name was the National Association of Professional Base Ball Players ( NAPBBP ). It existed from 1871 to 1875.

History

The NA was followed by the National Association of Base Ball Players ( NABBP ), which coordinated the fortunes of most baseball teams in the United States as an association of amateur clubs 1857-1870. In the NA despite the relatively short lifetime playing 25 different clubs, although other counts can be found by the danger of confusion between the team name and nickname. The early end after only five years, among other things, attributed to the dominance of the Boston Red Stockings, who won four of the five titles. On the NA followed from 1876, the National League.

The National Association is not guided by today's perspective (eg, today's Major League Baseball or the Baseball Hall of Fame ) and Major League, ie as the leading baseball league. This status is only granted its successor.
