Nacional Pescara was a Spanish car brand.

Company History

Raúl Pateras Pescara Pescara Enrique and his brother founded in 1928 in Barcelona, the company Fábrica Nacional de car Móviles SA and began 1929 with the production of automobiles. As the state, the company supported with tax breaks, it was called the Nacional in the company. 1932 production ended. The information on the production figures vary between five and 14 two cars still exist today.

OHC model

The first model had an eight-cylinder in-line engine with OHC valve control, which made ​​80 hp from 2960 cc. The motor consisted predominantly of light metal. The gearbox had only two gears. A special four were built hydraulic jack which enabled a quick wheel change. The vehicles were also used in auto racing. So Enrique Pescara won his class in the Peña Rhin- mountain race in July 1930. It was designed by the Italian Edmondo Moglia.

DOHC model

The second model featured a revised engine with two overhead camshafts. Thus, the engine output increased to 125 hp. With a shortened chassis, a racing car body and a three-speed gearbox, the vehicle 1931, the boiler hillclimb in Kesselberg to 1936 and many other race part. The racing driver Juan Zanelli won the 1931 European Hillclimb Championship.

Compressor model

End of 1932, a model appeared with a revised again supercharged engine, which made ​​180 hp.

Ten-cylinder model

The company was working on a model with a ten-cylinder in-line engine with 3900 or 4100 cc capacity, which should make 100 hp without supercharging. For racing applications, a compressor was provided. The political situation in Spain caused an end to this project before it was completed.

Sixteen -cylinder engine

In collaboration with Gabriel Voisin a sixteen -cylinder engine was developed. The engine produced from 3600 or 4000 cc 150 hp.

SLM -Pescara

Raúl Pateras Pescara moved to Switzerland in 1933. The Swiss Locomotive and Machine Works produced in 1935 a vehicle with the V16 engine. Chausson manufactured the chassis.
