National Union of Workers

The National Union of Workers ( NUW ) ( German: National Workers Union ) is an Australian trade union with 90,000 members and about 140 employees who are employed by it. Its members work in different areas in which about 160 gesamtaustralische, federal collective agreements and Einzelvertäge apply with companies. The MSD is a member of the trade union umbrella organization, the Australian Council of Trade Unions.

History

The National Union of Workers was created in 1989 through the merger of six historic trade unions: Federated Storemen and Packers Union ( founded in 1912 ), Federated Rubber and Allied Workers Union ( founded in 1908 ), Federated Cold Storage and Meat Preserving Employees' Union ( founded in 1908 ), (founded in 1909) Federated Millers and Manufacturing Grocers Union Commonwealth Foremen 's Association (founded 1912) and United Sales Representatives and Commercial Travellers Guild ( founded in 1888 )
