National Vanguard (Italy)

The Avanguardia Nazionale was a right-wing organization in Italy. It was founded in 1960 by Stefano Delle Chiaie and had the goal to overthrow or weaken them Italian democracy. In 1976 it was officially dissolved.

The origins

Stefano Delle Chiaie founded the movement after it ( in German: New Order ) from the extreme right-wing terrorist organization Ordine Nuovo had leaked. He was able to draw on the experience he within the Gruppi Armati Revoluzionari ( to German: Groups of armed revolutionaries ) had made.

The emblem of the movement

The symbol of Avanguardia Nazionale was the Othala rune, in accordance with the badge of the 7th SS Volunteer Mountain Division "Prinz Eugen". The rune was mapped to a red flag in front of a white background, which caused a direct association with the swastika symbol of the Nazi Party.

Method

In the nineties, according to testimony by Giacomo Lauro Ubaldo and Carmine Dominici criminal investigations were initiated against the motion. As a result of studies, the authorship of the Avanguardia Nazionale turned out to various attacks in the context of the so-called strategy of tension, including the massacre of Gioia Tauro and the murder of the Anarchici della Baracca.
