Geography

Nattheim located on the edge of the Härtsfelds between the county town of Heidenheim an der Brenz and the community Oberdischingen.

Community structure

The municipality Nattheim following formerly independent municipalities belong with the then districts ( six pieces):

  • Auernheim with the Weilerstein hamlet and homestead forest fied yard as well as the dialed villages Auer Hof and Mittelhof.
  • Mite home with the dialed Town Walk Village.
  • Nattheim with the homestead Wahlberg as well as the dialed villages Gebstetten and St. Stephen.

History

Nattheim was settlement site of the Celts. On the outskirts is a Celtic place of worship, whose walls are still standing. Nattheim was the first time in 1050 in a charter of Emperor Henry III. mentioned. 1448-1504, the village belonged to Bavaria, then he came to the Duchy of Württemberg.

On 1 February 1972, the formerly independent communities Auernheim and mite home were incorporated.

Districts

Auernheim

Auernheim was first mentioned in documents in 1258. Since 1297 it belonged to the monastery Neresheim and was ceded in 1810 by Bavaria to the Kingdom of Württemberg.

Mite Home

Home mite was first mentioned in documents in 1277. It belonged to the possession of the counts of Helfenstein. 1504 was the place to the Duchy of Württemberg.

Steinweiler

Steinweiler was built in 1775 by settlers, which, required the limestones, which are very abundant there for the construction of the monastery Neresheim, as a settlement of stonemasons. In 1810 it came to the Kingdom of Württemberg.

Today it is a small village with about 350 inhabitants. In Steinweiler there, next to a stone mason, a chapel ( Catholic), a fire station with vehicles and a community center. The children stone hamlet go Auernheim to kindergarten and primary school. The secondary schools are in Nattheim, Neresheim and Heidenheim.

The quarries in the conservation area have been shut down for quite some time. The area is a tourist destination today.

Traffic

The community is connected through the 2.5 km exit Heidenheim A7 (Würzburg -Ulm ) to the national road network.

Educational institutions

With the Wiesbühlschule there is a primary and secondary school in Nattheim. There are also in Auernheim a pure elementary school.

Leisure and sports facilities

The bike team Steinweiler (BTS ) has a bike lane in the hamlet of stone hamlet built in 2005. The land was donated by the community Nattheim available. The construction was carried out by the Steinweiler youth on their own initiative. 2007, the distance was increased to about 3000 m². An indoor swimming pool ( Ramensteinbad ) is present in Nattheim. Furthermore, there is a gymnasium ( Ramensteinhalle ) and soccer ( heap and in the valley), as well as tennis courts and in the winter a ski center with lift.

Culture and sights

Nattheim is located on the Swabian Alb Route, which passes by many sights.

Museums

The museum in the old school exhibits finds from around 130 million year old coral. In the attic of the old school is a large model railway in the private model railroaders Nattheim.
