Naturschutzsee Füssenich

BW

The Naturschutzsee Füssenich (also Neffelsee or Füssenicher lake ) is an Tagebaurestsee, of around 1967 through the reclamation of lignite opencast mine " Zuelpich Center" located (formerly " Victor", after the founder of the operating company, Viktor Rolff ) in the Town of Zuelpich formed.

It was planned at the lake as well as the water sports lake Zuelpich, which also dates from this time by the mining in the region to create a beach. This plan could not be implemented because the pouring out of the sand embankments slid down again and again. Thus, the only task today is to function as a flood retention basin of Neffelbachs which flows west from the lake and has an overflow structure in the lake.
