Districts in Nauru

The state is divided into 14 districts Nauru. In each district next area and population, the number of historic villages indicated that today some are uninhabited or destroyed.

The districts do not play a major role. The borders are the former borders of the former provinces which existed until 1968, each consisting of several villages; this in turn translated from land, which were owned by families and are still together. With the independence of Nauru, the cantons were to modern districts. Yaren as so-called Main District and Aiwo are internationally seen the two most important districts, as are the government buildings and the main industry here as well as most inhabitants live.
