Nauruan parliamentary election, 2003

The parliamentary elections in Nauru in 2003 took place on 3 May 2003.

You have been brought forward due to the sudden death of the then incumbent President Bernard Dowiyogo. 3 of the 18 parliamentary seats went to the Naoero Amo Party, the remaining 15 were elected non-party. For the presidential election, there were three candidates: Ludwig Scotty, Kinza Clodumar and derog Yioura, the interim president. After the first ballot, each candidate had six votes, which led to a three-week political stalemate. It was not until May 20 derog Yioura retired after a heart attack, Ludwig Scotty was able to win the election with 9 votes to 7 against Kinza Clodumar for itself in the second ballot.
