Naxos (Greek Νάξος ( f sg ) ) is a municipality on the Greek island of Naxos. The area of the municipality Naxos takes in the west of the island of 126.957 km ² with about 30 % of the island one.

Naxos in 1912 recognized as a rural community ( kinotita ) and 1947 for the township ( dimos ) upgraded. 1998 numerous neighboring communities were incorporated. The island of Naxos was merged on 1 January 2011 with the little ones Ostkykladen to the municipality Naxos and Small Cyclades; the territory of the former Municipality of Naxos has since formed a community of six districts of the new community.

The Municipality of Naxos is divided into two districts and nine villages.
