Nazarius and Celsus

Nazario was a Roman soldier who converted to Christianity and worked with his student Celsus in Gaul and Italy. As a result of Diocletian's persecution of Christians both died probably around 304 martyred.

Nazario is the patron saint of Nazariuskirchen and Lorsch Abbey and its possessions, where his remains and relics are kept since the 8th century. His symbol is the sword.

In Ober-Roden, District of Roedermark, Hesse, with a Nazariuskirche the local coat of arms is provided with this sword.

According to the Holy Western French port city of Saint- Nazaire and other cities in France and Canada are named.
