Aukaans ( Okanisi ) is a language spoken by the Ndyukas or Aukanern in Suriname, the strong Saramaccaans, Sranan Tongo similar but less the creole language based on English. She has over 22,000 speakers, including over 15,500 in Suriname.
Linguistic characteristics
Aukaans is much less marked than African Saramaccaans, eg it has two phonemes kp and GB lost, which still possesses the Saramaccaans, and is not more tonal. The Speaker of the Aukaans fled only in a second wave, according to speakers of Saramaccaans, in the jungle.
