Nea Moudania

Nea Moudania (Greek Νέα Μουδανιά ( n pl ). Nea also Mudanya as possible spelling ) is a small town in northern Greece, in Chalkidiki in Central Macedonia. Nea Moudania is located on the west coast of Halkidiki at the Thermaikos Gulf north of the isthmus of the peninsula Kassandra. With approximately 9,300 inhabitants New Moudania the largest town of Halkidiki, even before the capital Polygiros and Kallikratia. New Moudania administrative seat of the municipality of Nea Propondida, the largest community in the former prefecture Chalkidiki.

Nea Moudania was founded in 1922 by Greek refugees from Asia Minor, which after the Greek -Turkish War came to Chalkidiki in the context of population exchange and named after the town of Mudanya ( Nea for New).

Nea Moudania is a very important fishing port and business center nowadays. For several years, trying to benefit from tourism in Halkidiki peninsula by building new resorts in the vicinity of the city. In the absence of really attractive beaches are therefore trying to find his niche in the upscale spa. In addition, Nea Moudania considered as transport hub.
