NEAT chipset

The NEAT chipset (New Enhanced AT) was developed in 1988 by Chips & Technologies and was scheduled for 80286 and 80386SX. The formerly customary motherboard configuration using jumpers has been largely superseded by a software configuration via BIOS. This chipset on the i80286 it was possible to use this processor card without EMS EMS. The chipset was marked next to the thanks Bank Interleaving high memory throughput by a in its scope previously unknown UMB storage management from which ausbremste not unlike the MMU of the 80386 ( and in particular for the 386SX constructional variant ) the processor.
