Neblina-Uakari

The Neblina Uakari ( Cacajao Hosomi ) is a primate of the genus within the family of uakaris Sakiaffen ( Pitheciidae ). He was described in 2008 as a separate from the black face - Uakari kind.

Neblina uakaris resemble the black face - uakaris, but are larger and have a denser, longer coat. These primates reach a body length 42-49 centimeters, the tail is short, as with all uakaris and measures approximately 14 to 22 inches. The weight is around 3 to 4.5 kg, with the males are slightly heavier than the females. Their fur is black at the top of the head, shoulders, arms, and the feet, the lower part of the back, the hips and the short tail are colored bright red-brown. The hairless head is black.

Neblina uakaris inhabit the extreme north of Brazil, their range is north of the Rio Negro and extends into southern Venezuela - its exact dimensions are not known. Your name is derived from the Pico da Neblina National Park, where the first specimens were found. The specific epithet Hosomi reflects the names of these animals is reflected in the language of the Yanomami.
