NEC Corporation (English formerly Nippon Electric Company; jap日本 电 気 株式会社, Nippon Denki Kabushiki - gaisha ), listed on the Nikkei 225, ISIN JP3733000008, was founded in 1899 by Kunihiko Iwadare and is now considered part of the Sumitomo Group, a global electronics company. Headquarters of NEC Super Tower in Shiba 5, Tokyo, Japan. NEC Electronics products manufactures of electronic components to digital cinema projectors with over 155,000 employees worldwide.
History
At its founding, NEC was the first Japanese joint venture with foreign capital. Co-founder at that time was the Western Electric Company, a manufacturer of telephone equipment, which belongs to the Bell Company. NEC began with the manufacture of telephones and switchboards.

Criticism
In October 2011, the company was convicted of illegal price-fixing agreements in the period from 1999 to 2004 by the EU, together with Asahi Glass, Schott AG and Samsung Corning Precision Materials, to a total amount of 128.7 million euros. The cartel had the prices of CRT glass for televisions and computer screens discussed. Samsung Corning Precision Materials remained of a sentence spared as the company had reported the violations to the Commission.
