Necil Kazım Akses

Necil Kâzım Akses ( born May 6, 1908 in Istanbul, † February 16, 1999 in Ankara) was a Turkish composer.

Akses studied in Vienna with Joseph Marx and in Prague with Josef Suk and Alois Haba. He was a member of Paul Hindemith in the construction of the Conservatory of Ankara, which he also conducted at times. Besides Cemal Resid Rey, Ulvi Cemal Erkin, Ahmet Adnan Saygun and Ferid Alnar he belonged to the group of the Turkish Five who joined as the first Turkish composers the musical tradition of her homeland with Western European compositional technique.

Since 1949 Akses was in the Turkish civil service act, among other things, as a cultural attaché in Bern and Bonn. He composed orchestral works, chamber music and piano pieces. His most famous work is the Violin Concerto of 1969.
