Architecture

The TDS office tower was built in Neckarsulm between 1997 and 1999, the cost was around 55 million DM The building itself has a height of 70 meters, with the antenna mounted on the roof of the tower is 103 meters high, making it the tallest office building in the Greater Heilbronn. It can accommodate a total of 550 employees.

Thanks to an innovative ventilation technology, the tower was originally supposed to do without air conditioning, but subsequently had a Zuluftkühlungsanlage be installed because the planned ventilation concept is not proven.

Per hour are sucked up to 80,000 m³ outside air by a ground duct, heated there and then flow over bottom diffusers in the rooms. For exhaust extraction a ventilation shaft, which is to suck the heated air using the thermal serves.

When it opened in 1999, the architect promised:

Since this heat and air technique, however, was not enough, soon had to be retrofitted to an active supply air, which will also not sufficient. When an inspection on 16 May 2003 at 19:00 clock on the ground floor inside temperatures of 32 ° C were measured while the outside temperature was 25 ° C.
