Necmettin Sadak

Necmettin Sadak Sadık (* 1890 in Isparta, † September 21, 1953 in New York) was a Turkish diplomat, journalist and Foreign Minister of Turkey.

He was born the son of Sadik Bey Şihabeddin 1890. The primary school attended Sadak in Edirne and the middle school in Izmir and Konya. After his father was promoted to chief justice in İstanbul, Sadak graduated from Galatasaray High School, 1910. Thereafter, he graduated from the University of Lyon ( Human Sciences ) and returned back in 1914. During his time in France he wrote in the newspaper Le Progres and made his first experiences as a journalist. Sadak worked as a translator in the Ministry of Education. In 1916 he became an assistant teacher of sociology at the University of İstanbul. Sadak was made professor of sociology after the abolition Ziya Gökalps. From 1928 Sadak were in the third. , IV, V, VI. , VII and VIII legislature deputy in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey for the province of Sivas.

Between 1925 and 1926 Sadak was president of the football club Galatasaray.

Sadak was a delegate of the Republic of Turkey to the Geneva Disarmament Conference of 1932, the Montreux Convention of 1936 as well as the League of Nations. On 16 January 1947 he was Secretary of State. Sadak remained in office until the election victory of the Democratic Party on May 22, 1950.

Sadak 1918 founded together with some friends the daily Akşam. He was the first editor of the newspaper. Sadak supported the Turkish War of Independence with articles in the newspaper.

Sadak wrote the book Sosyoloji in 1936. Has been used for many years in secondary schools.

Sadak died on September 21, 1953 of cancer at Memorial Hospital.
