Need for Speed: Underground
Need for Speed: Underground ( NFSU short ) is the seventh part, developed by Electronic Arts racing game series Need for Speed , and appeared in Europe for the first time on 21 November 2003 for PlayStation 2, GameCube and Xbox. On 17 November 2003, the game was released in the United States. There, the PC version was released on this date, which was released in Europe on 28 November 2003. On December 18, 2003 ( North America ) or on 16 January 2004 a version for the Game Boy Advance was released finally.
Gameplay
Playful, this part is based very strongly on the film " The Fast and the Furious". So most of the usable vehicles of East Asian manufacturers. Compared to the previous Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, there are some significant changes. For all races now take place at night, which is why there are no more police. The races do not take place in nature, but only in a single fictional city mostly. Although this town has been designed a road network, but is not yet freely passable.
In addition to classic racing modes such as circular course races and sprint races with different start and end point, there is a new race modes drift and drag race. The drift race points will be scored through as daring and spectacular drifts and the driver with the most points. Drag racing takes place over a relatively short distance on straight sections. In contrast to the other race modes, there is no automatic here. The winner is the driver who is the first at the finish. This is achieved by switching at the right time.
Another new feature are the numerous tuning options. Was it possible to adapt in the predecessors, the color of the car, so it is possible to change the car also from a performance point in the Underground. This allows, for example, more powerful engines or fuel injection system for Nitro Gas install. There are also optical tuning options such as rear spoiler, rims or whole Karosseriekits.
The soundtrack was based on songs by popular rock and hip -hop artists such as TI, Nate Dogg, Lil Jon, The Eastsideboyz, Static-X and Asian Dub Foundation.
Technology
In the game a lot, partly exaggerated lighting effects are used. In addition, a very strong motion blur is used.
After it had been announced several times, Electronic Arts has taken the servers for the online mode in December 2007 from the mains.
