Nefew
Nefew is a Swiss hip- hop group from Windisch, Aargau. It consists of Polemikk (born Marco D' Amico, rapper, producer) and PA -Double (born Roger Patt, DJ, producer). The band was formerly known under the name Emphasized Prophecy, later changed this, however, to Nefew, which stands for New Education From Every Word. Her style is often compared to artists such as Common, Kanye West, 9th Wonder, characteristic Starr and Talib Kweli. Many of her productions include Soul samples, as well as jazz piano and string arrangements.
Emphacized Prophecy - Off the Cuff (1994-2007)
Polemikk and PA -Double known each other since kindergarten and produce active since 1994 music. The duo was called at the beginning Emphacized Prophecy, but then changed her for the purpose of better recognition to Nefew ( an acronym which stands for New Education From Every Word). Under the old pseudonym, the group released their first EP in 1999, Lyrical Quarrel. The second EP, called Pieces of Forsaken Times, followed in 2003. Than 4,000 copies were sold worldwide.
After the name change to Nefew 2007 the group took their first big step by she released her first studio album, Off the Cuff. This contains the song Admit It, a Kollaberation with the two from Brooklyn coming rappers Wordsworth and Masta Ace. Nefew Thus, managed a name in the U.S. indie hip- hop scene. The album received mixed reviews from music critics. musicOMH rated it 2 out of 5 stars, while UK Hip Hop called the album a " well-intentioned, but unüberraschendes piece Untergrundrap ".
Tales of the Dago, the first free mixtape, was also published in 2007.
Homesick EP (2008-2009)
A song, which was produced by Nefew and also includes vocals by Polemikk, appeared on Torae 's Mixtape Allow me to Introduce Myself in 2008.
In December 2009, Puma Nefew began to support in terms of promotion. This allowed the duo to reach many new listeners. Nefew is the Hip- Hop Showactact, which is sponsored by Puma. In addition Nefew have indicated in some interviews that they currently stand in negotiations with two major labels. Until now, however, no record deal is official.
With the support of Puma Nefew released the EP Homesick. It is available exclusively on the iTunes Music Store. The song Biko includes vocals by R & B singer and former Chanj GOOD Music artist Consequence. Biko was awarded second place in the U.S. college radio charts.
Anti Hero Begins ( 2010)
Anti Hero Begins was released in April 2010. It is an official free mixtape. Although it has been declared as a mixtape, it is more likely, therefore, as a complete album.
Anti Hero Begins tells the story of a rap group that has reached the point in their careers at which they must decide whether they want the step to produce music professionally dare or not. At the end is the next studio album, Anti Hero, announced.
The mixtape had considerable success, not least because it was presented with the prestigious Hip- Hop Blog 2dopeboyz.com. Anti Hero Begins received good reviews. Okayplayer rated it 89 out of 100.
Man Vs Many / Anti Hero (present)
Anti Hero Begins DJ Green Lantern took notice of the group and had the idea to work together. In January 2011 Man Vs Many, was presented by DJ Green Lantern, published. Among other impacted singer Dwele and rapper / producer Nottz with the mixtape. In October 2011, the EP Transitions, which was entirely produced by Berlin musicians 7inch appeared.
The next studio album will be called Anti Hero and should be finished since 2009. A specific release date was not mentioned until today. Because the deals were too unsatisfactory, would rejected by several record labels Nefew contracts. In addition, should an EP with producer Nottz, called God Complex, in work.
