Neftali Feliz Antonio (born 2 May 1988 in Azua de Compostela, Azua, Dominican Republic) is a Dominican baseball player in Major League. He currently plays for the Texas Rangers as a Closer.
Career
Feliz was taken in 2005 as a free agent by the Atlanta Braves under contract. In July 2007 he was transferred together with other players to the Texas Rangers and first played in the Minor Leagues. On 2 August 2009 he was appointed for the first time the team and gave the Rangers the next day as a relief pitcher with two innings and four strikeouts his debut in the MLB. Shortly after the start of the 2010 season, the Rangers made him the Closer. Already in its first full year in the MLB, he was appointed to the All- Star team of the American League, was there but not used. Feliz was in the regular season 40 Saves achieved - more than any other rookie before. Previous record holder was Kazuhiro Sasaki of the Seattle Mariners, the 2000 was able to record 37 saves as a rookie in the season. In the post-season in 2010, he secured with three outs in Game 6 of the Championship Series against the New York Yankees the first entry of the Rangers in the World Series. In their Game 3 against the San Francisco Giants, he secured a 4-2 victory for the Rangers, making him the second youngest player to have achieved a save in a World Series. For his performances during the season, he was named Rookie of the Year the American League.
