Negomano
Province
Negomane ( Negomano, Ngomano ) is a Mozambican village on the border with Tanzania.
Geography
The place is situated on the south bank of the River Rovuma border in the province of Cabo Delgado. Here ends the Lugenda in the Rovuma.
Population
Negomane has about 1,800 inhabitants ( 2005 estimate ).
History
At the battle of Ngomano German troops defeated on November 25, 1917 Portuguese units in the First World War.
Economy and infrastructure
Since the completion of the Unity Bridge 2010, here is the only river crossing for vehicles and one of two transitions at all between Tanzania and Mozambique. On the Tanzanian side is the place Mtambaswala. The bridge was the last missing piece of a continuous road link along the East African coast of the Indian Ocean.
