Neidenbach

Envy in the Eifel mountains is a municipality in the district of Bitburg -Prüm, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kyllburg.

Geography

Neidenbach located about 45 km north of Trier in the Kyllburger Waldeifel. To the local community also includes the hamlet of Erntehof 2.5 km northwest of the local situation as well as residential places Koppenweg, Maierhof, Nickelshof and Am waterfall.

History

Field names and some archaeological finds point to a Roman and Frankish colonization of the area around envy Bach. A landmark that can be seen on the Roman road Trier- Cologne, which was on the heights between envy Bach and Bales field and off-road and on topographic maps, bears the inscription FINIS PAGI CARVCVM and thus has a settlement of otherwise testified under this name, presumably Celtic Caruces out (see Carosgau ).

By the end of the 18th century Neidenbach belonged partly to the Electorate of Trier (Official Wilsecker ) and partly to the Duchy of Luxembourg (ruled Malberg ). The population is predominantly outside of town for a job. In the town itself there are besides a restaurant and a hairdresser still smaller retail outlets that the immediate rural population.
