Neil Campbell (scientist)

Neil Allison Campbell ( born April 17, 1946 in Culver City, † 21 October 2004 in Redlands ) was an American biologist and professor of botany at the University of California ( Riverside).

Life

After visiting the Gardena High School in 1963, Campbell completed a biology degree, which he completed with the Bacchelorgrad 1967 at California State University, Long Beach. His master's degree in zoology, he acquired from the University of California at Los Angeles. He then received his doctorate in 1975 on the subject of plant biology in the discipline of botany at the University of California at Riverside. Campbell conducted research on plants in arid regions and coastal areas. He was interested in the tolerance of plants to salinity, pH and other factors. Other focal points of his research, the study of the cellular bases of leaf movements counted. Campbell taught at the University of California, Riverside, at Cornell University, Pomona College and San Bernardino Valley College.

Campbell was more than 30 years in teaching. He engaged in particular for improving training in the basic studies. At Cornell University, for example, he gave the basic study a new structure. His research has been published in numerous journals, such as Science or Plant Physiology. With its introduction to the biology works, such as Biology: Concepts and Connections, Essential Biology, and Essential Biology with Physiology, he turned in particular to students of relevant disciplines and supplemented them with modern media projects. Campbell died of a heart attack.
