Neil Emblen

Neil Robert Emblen ( born June 19, 1971 in Bromley ) is an English footballer. The defensive player is since 2007 the New Zealand club Waitakere United. His brother Paul Emblen was also a professional footballer.

Career

Emblen began his career in 1992 at Sittingbourne FC in the Southern Football League Southern Division and moved to the rise in 1993 for £ 175,000 for second division FC Millwall. After only one season, he was transferred for £ 600,000 to league rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and came in three years to 89 league operations. In 1997, the first division side Crystal Palace paid £ 2 million transfer fee for the services of Emblen.

With only 13 inserts and the descent of the Crystal Palace Chapter league football ended after one year for Emblen and he returned to Wolverhampton Wanderers. In 2001 he transferred for £ 500,000 to Norwich City and was promoted from manager Nigel Worthington to the team captain. Through several injuries, he came in the 2001 /02 only two appearances for Norwich and was thrown back in the subsequent period over again from injury. In the second half of the season 2002/ 03 he was awarded twice to the Walsall FC who then took him free transfer under contract. In 2004 he rose to Walsall from the Football League One and left the club a year later in the direction of New Zealand.

Emblen signed in the newly formed Australian A-League for the New Zealand Knights, who finished in two seasons of their league participation in last place. After the dissolution of the Club 2007, he moved to Waitakere United. End of the year, he took part with Waitakere at the FIFA Club World Cup 2007, but failed here already in the qualifying round to Sepahan Isfahan. In 2008 he won the first club, the New Zealand Cup with a 2-0 victory in the final over Team Wellington and a short time later, the OFC Champions League with a 5-0 second-leg win over Kossa FC. Emblen scoring the hit to make it 2-0 and thus equaled the 1:3 first leg defeat.

Since 2012 he is assistant coach of the New Zealand national football team and also responsible for the U-23 team, with whom he participated at the Olympic Games in London, but was eliminated in the first round.
