Nejdek

The city Nejdek ( German Neudek ) belongs to the region of Karlovy Vary ( Carlsbad Region ) in the Czech Republic.

Location

Nejdek located in the Bohemian part of the Ore Mountains in the valley of the Rolava ( Rohlau ), a left tributary of the Ohře (Eger). To the north above the city rises the ridge of the tower- winning, 974 -meter-high Tisovský vrch ( Peindlberg ). The city is located on the ancient trade and pass road from Leipzig to Karlovy Vary ( Carlsbad), between upper Wildenthal and deer's ( Hirschenstand ) led across the border, but is now used only as a migrant border crossing.

History

The site was created by the mining, was first documented in 1340 and already in 1410 called Little Town. 1602 Neudek officially received city rights conferred.

Over 150 years, from 1446 to 1602, ruled by the Counts of Schlick over the place and helped him to a flower that came to an end by the Thirty Years' War. 1633 came the dominion of the Count Czernin, who established, inter alia, a new castle here. The first non- aristocratic owner of the domain was the wholesalers Anton Waagner from Leitmeritz, who acquired in 1810 Neudek. In the late 19th century, the city developed into a major industrial center. Here, inter alia, the " iron Werke AG Rothau - Neudek ", worsted spinning mills and farms of wood and paper production were established. Neudek was since 1910 the seat of the eponymous district in the Kingdom of Bohemia (district Neudek ) and 1938-1945 of the district Neudek. Before 1945, included the settlements Gallows, reason Hahnberg, tap houses, high fir, Limnitz and Seifert mountain to Neudek.

During 1830 inhabitants lived here in 1978, the population increased to 1939 to 8441st On May 22, 1947, but were only 5748 inhabitants. Because of the Beneš decrees, the German inhabitants were expropriated in 1945 and sold.

With approximately 1,500 employees Witte Nejdek is spol. s R.O. the largest employer in the city. In the halls at the old bus station locking systems for the European automobile manufacturers are produced. Witte Nejdek is a subsidiary of the German company Witte Automotive.
