History

The Nationalrajon was created in 1927. At that time he was still called Rajon Oktyabrsky and was shortly afterwards renamed German National Raion. 96 percent of the population were Russia German. 1938 Rajon was dissolved and the German -language newspaper Red Flag prohibited. In the years around 1941, the Volga Germans were deported by Stalin, partly in the Altai region.

1989, a project to restore this Rajons of the Federal Republic of Germany was financially supported and three dairies, two slaughterhouses, a bakery, a road maintenance and a farm were subsequently built. Later, a hospital was being built. Due to the gains daycare centers and schools were built.

Although initially there was an economic optimism and it went to the people well, could not prevent the massive emigration of many of German origin in the so-called "original homeland" Germany. Soon many ethnic German families from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan came. These were kyrgyzstan and kasachstandeutsche families who had, however, be mixed with other ethnic groups from the respective countries. Therefore, many spoke no German. Today is placed on the preservation of German culture and past a lot of value.
